I will be part of the upcoming art show at Leach Botanical Garden to celebrate their 40th anniversary! Pieces will be on display and for sale in the Manor House on Saturday and Sunday, August 16 and 17, from 10:00 am – 3:45 pm. This show features 100 local artists and sales benefit the garden. This multilevel garden next to Johnson Creek has an aerial tree walk, pollinator garden, native plants, trails and more. Local Portland friends, I hope to see you there!
I created a special piece for this event, Nymphaea, acrylic on canvas (6″x6″). I was inspired to paint this beauty while visiting Tanner Springs park in the Pearl district, an acre of green space in the middle of the city featuring native wildflowers, a pond/wetland, and public art. I love seeing parks like this in the city. The afternoon I visited I saw a couple ducks, dragonflies and little fish in the water. The waterlily pond sits at the edge and several were in bloom. The Pearl district in Portland was once a wetland so it is wonderful to see some of this history revived in the park.
