I absolutely enjoy helping other artists and creative businesses promote their work. Here is a site I recently developed for artist Heide Davis. In addition to the site, I also designed a promotional postcard to match:
Also, recently launched a site for copywriter Sean Thielen, www.sprocketcopy.com
And two recent logo designs for local small businesses 🙂
As a designer, I’m often asked, what inspires me? How do I approach a design for an artist or an entrepreneur?
I usually start with getting to know the client’s preferences, their style, goals and visions. Along with this, I incorporate my knowledge of current design trends. And of course on the development side, WordPress and SEO.
For artists, I often look to their work for a unique aesthetic. Generally, artist sites are best designed with a minimal, neutral background but adding a custom touch based on their style really makes the entire site stand out.
For entrepreneurs, a few decisions about visual branding precede the design phase. This typically includes a logo design, font and color choices.
So, advice in a nutshell: It’s easy to to choose a popular template that is available, but that won’t set you apart. A skilled web designer that has branding knowledge will give your site a unique look and feel.
