For the love of bees…
I designed this small series to celebrate the importance of bees in our world! Not only are they a significant pollinator for plants (which our ecosystem depends on), the honey they produce is highly valuable for food and medicinal use. The beeswax they create is beneficial for skincare products, candles, sealing wood or other materials, medicinal purposes and even art, as you can see :)
This piece has been created with hot encaustic wax which is 85% beeswax, and a few bee friends were nearby when I created it (bees love beeswax!). Each piece in the series is one of a kind and includes my original hand-drawn watercolor and ink illustration sealed into the wax. The surface is then embellished with metallic oil paint and pastel for a shimmering effect. Each piece is one of a kind and signed on the back.

The bright sun radiates warmth and nourishes our earth, bringing plants to life. This mixed media oil painting features a sculpted sun covered in shimmering, gold glass beads. Each bead is intricately woven in a peyote stitch pattern around the face.
